Note: Sometimes after uploading the HTML file a message can appear on the screen saying “This file is not permitted for security reasons”. When this message appears, don’t worry. Just add an HTML block to your page and copy the HTML code from the previous page and paste it on the HTML block. That’s it!

Method 2: Uploading an HTML file Using FTP Client

FTP or File Transfer Protocol is third-party software that allows you to connect your website to access all the files and folders. You can just download an FTP client software and upload any file from your computer to your website without an error. Unlike the WordPress dashboard, you can avoid the Error message by using FTP client software.

Step 1: Download an FTP client such as Filezilla and run it on your Desktop.

Step 2: Once you install Filezilla, the next thing you need to do is to connect your website to the software. To do that, you will see four boxes on the top once you open the software. Fill up the credentials which require you to fill up a hostname, username, password, and port number. When it’s done, click Quick Connect to connect the site with Filezilla.

Step 3: When the connection between the server and software is established, you will see two panels on the screen consisting of a local site on the left and a remote site on the right. Here the local site indicates your computer and the remote site indicates your website.

Step 4: The public_html folder on the remote site panel is the folder where all the files of your website are. Right-click on it and create a folder by clicking Create Directory and Entering It. 

Step 5: Select the HTML file from the left side panel and upload it. Uploading the file may take some time. Keep patience.

Use your file path with the file name to check if the webpage has been uploaded.

Step 1: Go to your web host account and find access to cPanel from there.

Step 2: Once you are in your cPanel dashboard you will find a File Manager folder where all your website content resides. Click on the File Manager tab which will open up an interface containing all the files in it.

Step 3: Then find the root of the files folder public_html.  Create a folder for your HTML file. Remember that the file name you set will be added to the page link.

Step 4: Once you create the directory, click on the Upload button from the toolbar on the top. A window will pop up giving you access to Select Files. After selecting the HTML file from your computer, cPanel will take a few minutes to upload it, and then Voila! You are done uploading your HTML file to WordPress.
